Every job I have ever held in sales, I was required to make "cold calls". Being green, I thought the boss knew better. So what did I do? I made cold calls. Did I close any sales and make any money? Some but I heard "no" more often than not.

After getting some experience under my belt, I realized that I wan't getting paid to make cold calls. Never in my career have I seen a commission check for the cold calls I made. Not only did I not get paid on cold calls, it wasn't very enjoyable.

In conclusion you get paid to make sales, not cold calls. Use the technology of today such as email and the internet and quit wasting your time cold calling. Work smarter.

If you enjoy sales, stick with it as it can be very rewarding. I'm still in sales but I also have my own company making a very nice income working only part time.
